An argument in the dictionary

I am a fish.
I am a noun.
I come from a family of nouns.
We have strong traditions of calling things what they are.
We don’t want our linguistic value diluted by the likes of you!.

I fish.
I am a verb.
I come from a family of verbs.
We too have strong traditions. We do things.
We don’t want our linguistic value diluted by the likes of you!

I am a second person pronoun.
Stop using me as a pawn in your petty feud.
Let’s be honest
You’re the bloody same!

Inspiration.

Initially for a magazine wanting submissions on the theme of conflict. Just wandered if words argue as much as people do.
